Hi there! My name is Amanda and though I could describe myself as a furniture designer, there are a lot of other things about me that make me the designer I am.
A traveler. Travel has always been an integral part of my life and a major source of inspiration for me. I was born in Sydney, Australia and have lived in London, Singapore, Pittsburgh and Chicago. As a result, I have a perpetual case of wanderlust. To date, I have travelled to over 20 countries.
A Tartan. I graduated with university honors from Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and a minor in Business.
A bacon lover. I mean really, what else is more delicious?
A renovator. In 2012, I bought and gave the place I now call home a total makeover. I’ve always had a love for interior design and space planning, so designing my own space from the ground up was a dream come true. I gutted everything and redesigned every detail and inch myself – from the lighting, to where each cabinet and appliance would go in the kitchen, to saying goodbye to a bathtub and hello to an open stand up shower.
A rock climber. I tried it a few years ago and it had me hooked. Few things beat the thrill or beauty of climbing outdoors.
A furniture designer. Through my internships at LTW Design Works, TEAMs Design and Webb Scarlet de Vlam, I’ve definitely learned a great deal in interior design and product design. I’ve always loved interior design, been inspired by architecture and loved making things in the woodshop so it only came natural that by the time I took a furniture class my senior year of college, I fell in love with it. I love creating things that you could interact with and use in your everyday life.
A graphic designer. In my free time, I’ve dabbled in “the other side” of the design and created wedding monograms, save the dates and my own printed stationary which will hopefully be available online sometime soon!
